Current Rating Factors

The Current Ratings given in the tables are as per IS: 3961 under standard conditions of laying.
The standard conditions of laying for cables as per different standards are as follows.

The current ratings are for single circuit for single phase ac or three phase ac system as applicable. Appropriate derating factors as given in respective part of IS: 3961 should be applied for variation from standard conditions of laying. Group rating factors should be applied if a group of cables are installed. The cables can be continuously operated at rated currents only if they are suitably protected against excess currents arising out of fault conditions.
